Where is Haelterman Cedar Furniture located?
A. We are located in a the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the small
town of Hermansville. Q. What types of wood do you use, and where do you get it?
A. All of our logs are naturally dried White Cedar which we purchase
from local suppliers. Our dimensional lumber consists of both White
Cedar and Western Red Cedar.
Q.
After I place an order, how long will it take me to receive my furniture?
A. Our normal production and shipping time is 4 to 6 weeks.
If you need your furniture sooner than this, please let us know your
time line and we will do our best to ship within that time line.
Q. Can you build custom pieces?
A. Most of our furniture can be customized without to much trouble.
for example, tables can be made longer, shorter, taller ect. If something
other than normal changes need to be made it could effect the price
and the shipping time.
Q. How much will it cost for shipping?
A. We are able to ship almost anywhere in the U.S. All of our furniture
is shipped via common carrier (truck). The cost of shipping is determined
by the destination and the weight. You can contact us for an estimated
shipping cost.
Q. How do I finish my furniture?
A. To preserve the natural beauty of your rustic furniture, apply 2-3
coats of either an oil or water based polyurethane. Satin, semi gloss
or high gloss may be used. Be sure to sand lightly and remove all
dust between coats. We found that the oil bases polyurethane gives
the furniture a better finish, but it takes longer to dry.
Q. Why are there cracks in my log furniture?
A. The cracks or "checks" you see in our furniture is a natural
and unavoidable characteristic of cedar. These cracks are caused by
the natural drying process, and does not effect the structural stability
our quality of the product.
Q. Can I have my furniture finished by the manufacturer?
A. NoOrmally we do not finish our products because we do not have the
facilities to do so. However, in certain circumstances it is possible
for us to finish smaller orders with a 23% charge.
Q. How long have you been building furniture?
A. Haelterman Furniture is a family owned business which has been in
operation for about 14 years. All of our craftsmen have 12 to 14
years of experience in the furniture industry.
Q. How are our logs peeled?
A. All of the logs we used are peeled with a German peeler. This machine
gives the logs a hand peeled draw knife look.
